Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil has commenced the sale of online application forms for admission into the 8th Regular Course of degree programmes at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano state, from Monday 13th April, 2020 and ends on Sunday 5th July, 2020. Both male and female Nigerians of good character can apply for admission into the Academy.
About the Academy
The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil was esterblished in 1988 and was formerly Commissioned on the 2nd April,1996, by then Head of State and Commander in Chief of the Armed forces, General Sani Abacha with the aim of producing ideal superior Police officers who are equipped with knowledge and skills to face challenges of policing in a technologically sophisticated world and an increasingly complex Nigerian society.
Charged with the vision of a model security training institution, internationally respected for the quality and efficiency of its training and the excellence of its academic standards, the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil aims at producing highly Reformed, Mobile, Innovative, Efficient and Civil Police.
The Federal Government of Nigeria upgraded the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil – Kano State, to a degree – awarding institution in 2012. Consequently, the National Universities commission, accordingly, recognized the Academy as the thirty seventh (37th) Federally owned University and the one hundred and twenty fourth (124th) University in Nigeria.
Nature and Duration of the Course
Successful candidates admitted for degree course will undergo a combination of Academic and Police training for a period of Five (5) Years leading to award of Bachelor’s degrees at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil and commission as the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the Nigeria Police Force.
With the commencement of academy activities in September, 2012, the Academy is divided into 4 faculties with the following courses:
A. Faculty of Sciences
- Biological Sciences
- Computer Science
- Forensic Science
B. Faculty of Social and Management Sciences
- Political Science
C. Faculty of Law
D. Faculty of Humanities.
- History & International Studies
Requirements for Admission into the Academy
The basic qualification required for enlistment into the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil for the two cadres are as follows:-
- a. Candidates must be a Nigerian citizens between the age 17 and 22 years
- Candidate must have a height of not less than 1.67 Metres (5 Feet 6 Inches) for male and an expanded chest size of not less than 86cm (34 Inches for those between 21 and 22 years of age), and 1.62 Metres (5 Feet 4 Inches) height for female.
- All candidates must be free from any physical deformity or mental disability.
- Candidates must possess a minimum of Six (6) credits at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) by either the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the National Examinations Council (NECO) or the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) at not more than 2 sittings with English Language and Mathematics inclusive.
- Candidates must must pass physical fitness tests and also obtain satisfactory scores in both the written exam and oral interview.
The selection into the Academy is done on quota basis with each state of the federation given an equal number of slots. Selection ends at Force Headquarters Abuja after the state level and zonal level selections.
The Police service commission has the sole responsibility of appointment into the Nigeria Police force.
How to Apply for Admission into Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil
The method of application into the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil is online. Interested Applicants should visit the Nigeria Police Academy’s Website: www.polac.edu.ng in order to obtain or generate Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) Code for the payment of N3,500.00 through any commercial Bank Branch in Nigeria or through Remita Platform.
Applicants must, in addition, apply through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board [JAMB] as well as sit for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with the the selection of Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil as first choice in the JAMB form.
However, only candidates who purchased the Academy online Application Form and obtained the Academy’s Cut-off mark of minimum of 180 scores in JAMB UTME will be eligible to sit for the Nigeria Police Academy Selection Examination.
Ensure to download your Acknowledgement slip after completing your application. Only candidates who meet the cut-off mark will be enabled to download and print their examination cards.
Examination Date and Requirements for Examination
The examination date is on Saturday the 8th August, 2020. Only candidates who meet the Academy’s cut-off mark of 180 in UTME and above will be eligible to sit for the Nigeria Police Academy Selection Examination at the 21 designated Centres. The list of Centres is in the Academy Website.
Eligible candidates are to bring along to the examination venue their Acknowledgement Form, Examination Card, current JAMB Result Slip and two Postcard size photographs (3.5×5 Inches) which should show only from the chest upwards. At the back of each of the two Postcard size photographs, the candidates must write their name, State of origin, Examination Centre and signature.
Only candidates who are successful in the Selection Examination will be invited for the Nigeria Police Academy Selection Board screening and interview. The list of successful candidates will be published on the Academy website.
